In today’s world, the challenges posed by climate change and environmental degradation are more pressing than ever. From the depletion of natural resources to the growing threat of pollution, our planet is facing urgent issues that demand immediate action. One of the most powerful and inspiring forces in the fight for a sustainable future is the energy, creativity, and determination of young people.
In line with our commitment to sustainability, Asian Transmission Corporation collaborated with Frilco Philippines Corporation to repurpose used steel drums into functional waste bins. This innovative initiative, offered at no cost by Frilco, allowed us to transform materials that would otherwise contribute to waste into valuable resources for the community.
On November 15, 2024, we hosted an impactful CSR event at Makiling Integrated School, aimed at educating and inspiring young people to become environmental advocates. The event, themed “Empowering Our Future Generations to Protect the Environment,” included two key activities designed to promote environmental awareness:
1. Waste Bin Donation:
The highlight of the event was the donation of the repurposed steel drum waste bins to the school. These bins will help the school manage waste more effectively, while also fostering a culture of responsibility and environmental consciousness among students.
2. Awareness Campaign on Proper Waste Management:
Alongside the donation, we conducted an interactive session on proper waste management practices led by Mr. Noriel Formarejo from EHS Section. Students were educated on the importance of recycling, reducing waste, and adopting eco-friendly habits that can make a significant impact on the environment.
The interactive nature of this session encouraged students to not only learn but also actively engage in discussions about sustainability. It was a valuable opportunity to instill the importance of waste reduction and recycling at an early age.
The event was graced by representatives from Asian Transmission Corporation’s labor union and Frilco Philippines Corporation, whose collaboration played a crucial role in making this initiative a success. Their presence and active participation underscore the importance of partnership and collective action in addressing environmental issues. Together, we are driving positive change and working toward a greener, more sustainable future.
The success of this program is just the beginning. As part of our long-term sustainability strategy, we are committed to continuing our efforts to engage youth in environmental protection. We will build on this momentum by launching more initiatives that empower young people to be champions for the planet.
We are also excited about the potential for further partnerships with other organizations and local communities. Through collaboration, we can continue to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of young people and the environment.
